皇へ進呈された15匹にルーツを持つという。戦後、 (マルチチャンネル)
2024- Video Installation(multi channel)
Although the Japanese bluegill is currently subject for elimination as an exotic species, almost all of them have their roots in the 15 fish presented to the former emperor by the mayor of Chicago in 1960 in the hope that they would serve as a source of protein for the nation's growing population after World War II.
Currently, "non-native fish boxes", as they are commonly called, have been set up on the banks of lakes across the country, and bluegill and black bass are encouraged to be discarded. They are collected and composted by local governments and NPOs, then slowly blend back into the soil.
In addition to the scenery of the lake, the film mishmash the various footage during my research on Japanese Bluegill, such as the growth of rice plants with the compost, the crushing sound of the exotic fish, and AI generated footage based on archive images of bluegill and relevant images of nature. The intersection of real/fictional scenes and political debate reveals Japan's view of nature, where reality and myth go back and forth.
